[personal profile] larielromeniel shared a nice conversation with her and Kit, one of her OCs for her series Tracking Torchwood and most recently, War in Heaven.  In that vein, I found myself talking back to Jacob, at first in response to a comment from [profile] karuri.  I thought it was too fun not to share more publicly.  By the way, I want an I <3 Jacob icon.  If anyone makes me one, I'd do a happy dance of victory.  And, on another note, I was hoping someone would get my old-school, somewhat obscure, nod to the Meddling Monk, an actual Time Lord and previous opponent of the Doctor's.  Obviously, not Jacob.  :)

As I've said before, I didn't really intend to, but Jacob in my mind looks and sounds a great deal like Brian Blessed.  I blame it on the Virgin Radio Christmas Panto from last year, which is one of the funniest and silliest bits of comedy I've heard in quite some time.

Disclaimer:  I am suffering from a beastly cold.  I just took another helping of my somewhat mind-altering cough syrup and slept about 2 hours last night.  Jacob, however, is feeling pretty damn feisty.  Silly monk.

THE CONVERSATION

ME:
You know, I had planned to off you.

JACOB: Nods sagely  We are all dying, after all.

ME:
Stop spouting philosophy.  I really, really had planned to off you.  That's why I created you, for goodness' sake.

JACOB
: Waits expectantly

ME:
OK, OK, it was a plot device to make the Doctor deal with Rose's mortality, and loss, etc. etc. etc. and I think I managed to pull it off without, er, your death in the middle of it.  It's a little tricky for you to wax philosophical in the story if I killed you off.  And I like you, besides.  And Brother Tomas is nice but really, can we handle more than one monk as an OC?

JACOB: I'm not really an OC.  I never traveled in the TARDIS.

ME
: Gets a far-away, rather plotting look in my eye

JACOB
: Oh, no.  I'm not getting in that box.  Don't even think it.

ME:
C'mon.  It could be fun!  Think of it: Monks In Space!

JACOB: Coughs politely and looks around for an escape.  Since he's in my mind, he's stuck.

ME: OK, maybe that's not such a good idea.

JACOB: It's all right my dear.  Just don't call me "Mary Sue."

Ahh The Smiths. I've been in the emo college trend for a few years. :( Though I only listen to the emo college music. ;D

Things that make me happy. The cover of "There is a light that never goes out" from Neil Finn's 7 Worlds Collide concert with Johnny Marr on guitar. Emo never sounded so good.

Huh, Neil Finn covered "There is a light that never goes out"? I'd like to hear that.

I just bought a Smiths covers CD that has Neil Hannon (well, the Divine Comedy) doing that song. After listening to the original about a billion times in college, it was very weird hearing it done with slightly different timing, but it's growing on me; he does have the voice for it.

Indeed he did. He performed a series of concerts with some musically inclined buddies (Eddie Vedder, Johnny Marr, Lisa Germano to name a few) at the St. James Theatre in Auckland NZ several years back. I (being a Neil devotee) have the CD and DVD that he released of the best of the shows, called Seven Worlds Collide (http://www.amazon.com/7-Worlds-Collide-Live-James/dp/B000060NUQ/ref=pd_bbs_sr_4/103-4512879-8285412?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1172880483&sr=8-4) and "There is a Light" is one. It's amazing.
