Quote me at me

I bow to the will of [personal profile] misssara11 and will do the following meme.  My fic master list is here.

Reply to this post with a quote from one of my fics. It can be anything from one sentence to a paragraph, depending on the context. Enough to give a person a fair shot at recognition. Then I will try to tell you which fic of mine it's from (without cheating and looking it up:)).

If you stump me utterly, I will write you a drabble of your choice.

ETA: And ... we're closed.  I'm all drabbled out.  :)

I could probably do this meme. With your fics. So what I have to do is find a quote that would stump me. Hmm.

[identity profile] kalleah.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
If you want to do the stump-[livejournal.com profile] platypus game, I think that would be a hoot.

But what do you get when I lose? :)

[identity profile] kalleah.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
You have to share some of the piece you've been working on. ;)

I bow to the will of [livejournal.com profile] misssara11

And don't you ever forget it!

"I have no idea." Rose stomped one foot in frustration. "What the hell does this have to do with anything?"

"It doesn't," he answered, his voice full of veiled laughter. "I just wanted to hold your hand."

What? Her mouth hung open and she realized, with complete astonishment, what he was doing. "Did you just use a line on me?"

[identity profile] kalleah.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee hee. That's Voyages of Discovery, although I can't tell you which chapter. It's the scene where the Doctor regales Rose with the story of the poor wee bunny who needs to cross a river.

"She sighed and nuzzled his neck. He was cool to the touch, even with the faint sheen of perspiration on his skin. When he lifted away from her, her skin prickled immediately into countless goose bumps and she protested. He smiled beneficently and drew the coat over her."

[identity profile] kalleah.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Damn, I think you got me. Maybe the naughty al fresco scene in The Calm Before the Storm?

[identity profile] kalleah.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh-oh. It's not.

[personal profile] platypus 2007-08-25 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's Paraselene, myself.

[identity profile] kalleah.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
You're right, it is. Damn.

[identity profile] kalleah.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Clesrly, you are better at this than I am. Okay, here's an idea. I'll do another post for you, if you're game, and I'll write a drabble for anyone who can stump you. That's harder than stumping me. You in?
platypus: (pumpkin - TARDIS (bright))

[personal profile] platypus 2007-08-25 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Bwah! I'll do whatever you want :)

[identity profile] ivydoor.livejournal.com 2007-08-26 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, I need to know where the pattern for that pumpkin is. I will be making one this year.
platypus: (pumpkin - TARDIS (dim))

[personal profile] platypus 2007-08-26 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
I sort of made the pattern myself (adapting a t-shirt template into something carvable -- I'm not that creative). I'll dig the pattern and associated notes out of the chaos of my computer. :)

[identity profile] kalleah.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, you got me fair and square with that one. It's Paraselene. Nuts. So, name your drabble!

[identity profile] queenrikki-hp.livejournal.com 2007-08-26 09:17 am (UTC)(link)
Ohhh, I completely missed the part about getting drabbles. Hmmm, As I'm easily pleased I just want something domestic. And ruffling the Doctor's hair (am rather fond of hair ruffling).

[identity profile] kalleah.livejournal.com 2007-08-26 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
... and who doesn't love hair ruffling?

[identity profile] karenor.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 09:57 am (UTC)(link)
oh how fun. a good excuse to visit your marvelous fics. i don't think i have enough fics of my own for anyone to stump me, otherwise i'd totally snag this meme. i also suck at drabbles...

From his awkward pose underneath the console, with only his long legs sticking out, the Doctor had made an acerbic comment about human brains and the need for frequent sleep, which Rose thought was much more characteristic of his previous self.

[identity profile] kalleah.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
The opening to The Hidden Well.

Drabbles are HARD for me, so this is a somewhat scary meme. (I'm wordy, remember?)

[identity profile] karenor.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, it's from "Those Who Dance." :)

[identity profile] kalleah.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Double damn. Okay, your drabble?

[identity profile] karenor.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
How about a fluffy missing scene. Either from the show or one of your serieses.

[identity profile] lillilynn.livejournal.com 2007-08-26 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Ohh, yeah, and it's such a chore to have to re-read ALL your fics to look for something. *tongue in teeth* this my take a minute.............

Here we go, I know you'll best me, but I can't resist the temptation of drabble from you!

Rose was horrified for a single, shocked moment, but the Doctor's laugh made her relax. "No, not this time."

[identity profile] kalleah.livejournal.com 2007-08-26 07:48 am (UTC)(link)
You've got me fair and square. I have no idea. So ... name your drabble.

[livejournal.com profile] platypus, want to weigh in for the record?

[personal profile] platypus 2007-08-26 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
asdflkajfd, that's a hard one. I want to say it's from the second half of either tCBtS or Voyages, but I really can't remember the context. It doesn't feel exactly like any of the bits where the Doctor's teasing Rose about the supposed prudishness of monks, but I'm kind of getting stuck on that. Since there is no bet hedging permitted, I'm going to say... tCBtS.
platypus: (Default)

[personal profile] platypus 2007-08-26 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, I was (slightly!) wrong about the context, but I still got it right :).

[identity profile] kalleah.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Yep. You're ahead of me, anyway!!!

[identity profile] lillilynn.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
It's "Calm Before the Storm" towards the very end of Chapter 1. Probably wasn't a fair call since it was such a short sentence. But I'll take the drabble since my A/C is out, I'm sweltering and could use cheering up after getting the estimate.

As long as it's fluffy I'll leave the rest of it to you.

[identity profile] kalleah.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Need ... more ... specifics ... please. I'm running a little short on drabbly inspiration at the moment.

[identity profile] lillilynn.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm, 10's oral fixation, and something vaguely intoxicating with a humorous possibly embarrassing outcome. :)

[identity profile] kalleah.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's good. I'll see what I can do. ;)
platypus: (Default)

[personal profile] platypus 2007-08-27 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, what the heck, I'll give it a go.
"Hello," he piped cheerily. She jumped and watched him slide out from underneath the console.

"I can't sneak up on you," she complained, half-heartedly. He always knew when she watched him.

"Not me. Built in Rose sneakiness detector. It was an upgrade."

[identity profile] kalleah.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
::happy dance::

I know that one. It's "Across the Abyss." A lady never forgets her first sequel.
platypus: (Default)

[personal profile] platypus 2007-08-27 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Darn. I thought maaaaaaaaybe I could sneak it by since you've done multiple Doctor-under-the-console scenes ;).

[identity profile] kalleah.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
It was the sneakiness detector. Yes, he has spent a lot of time under the console ... what can I say?
platypus: (Default)

[personal profile] platypus 2007-08-27 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Have we actually had a scene of Ten under the console on the show? He's always playing with it, petting it, putting his feet on it, making out with it, but I can't remember him repairing it. There were at least a couple of scenes of Nine repairing stuff.

[identity profile] kalleah.livejournal.com 2007-08-28 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
I think you may be right about that. Of course, he is too pretty to hide under the console. And one wouldn't want to further rumple the suit. :)
platypus: (Default)

[personal profile] platypus 2007-08-28 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, one would. One really would.

[identity profile] kalleah.livejournal.com 2007-08-28 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
... not in such a prosaic manner, anyway.
