Quotations amuse me
May. 20th, 2007 03:24 pmI am, as always, a hoarder of good quotations. I used one per chapter for Voyages of Discovery, and I have to say that the search for an appropriate quotation was nearly as much fun as writing. I certainly can get distracted that way.
Anyway, I'm looking for some quotes for some vignettes I'm working on (hee), and I found a couple that I'm not going to use, but were worth sharing.
"Somewhere on this globe, every ten seconds, there is a woman giving birth to a child. She must be found and stopped." -- Sam Levenson
""If the radiance of a thousand suns
Were to burst at once into the sky
That would be like the splendor of the Mighty one --
I am become Death,
The shatterer of Worlds."
-- The Bhagavad Gita
"One by one the sands are flowing,
One by one the moments fall;
Some are coming, some are going;
Do not strive to grasp them all."
-- Adelaide Proctor
