We just watched theTorchwood finale and the Doctor Who premiere.  Reactions are pretty much as you would expect from me (damn you, Chibnall).  I'll just say, above the cut and for the record, I am so glad to have Donna back.  I liked her in TRB and I think she's going to be a marvelous counterpoint to the Doctor for this series.

My husband thinks Tennant's hair is getting bigger, for the record.  I think this may merit some comparative studies.

I think Tennant's hair is sexygood.

"YOU AIN'T MATIN' WITH ME, SUNSHINE!" Despite hearing this on every DW advert ever since she was announced as the new girl, it still made me laugh a hell of a lot.

I agree. I just watched the Confidential though and he looked quite nice in the read-through.

I had heard bad things about "Partners in Crime" and was expecting to be disappointed, but instead I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't a perfect episode, but it was still enjoyable, and I love having Donna back.

"Exit Wounds," on the other hand, had about 10-15 worthwhile minutes (anything having to do with Tosh and Owen, and any line delivered by James Marsters, who clearly knows he's acting in a big piece of cheese) surrounded by 35 minutes of utter stupid. I don't know how they found an actor worse than John Barrowman, who is pretty to look at but mostly coasts on charisma, but they did -- the guy playing Grey really reminded me of Hayden Christianson in the Star Wars movies, and that is not a good thing.

I enjoyed it. No, it wasn't deep, but it was fun and a good re-intro to Donna.

ME TOO!

Yeah, I gathered that.

Watching the two episodes back to back made me very appreciative of how much better Doctor Who is. Really, the best actor on the show was Burn Gorman, and I hope he's off to bigger and better things.

Did anyone else have a flashback to Kensei being buried on Heroes? It seemed more horrifying then.

That's what I was thinking of! I knew I remembered an online discussion about what would happen if someone immortal was buried alive, and I was pretty sure we hadn't been discussing Jack -- of course, it was Kensei!

I think it was more shocking with Kensei because of who did the burying in that case.

Really? Well, still, I've always had a tendency to get spoiled by looking at discussion before I've actually seen the episode. I'm always curious about whether the general reaction is positive, so I do things like look at the OG rating poll, and I always run into spoilery thread titles and such. For today, I was thinking, "It's just the setup episode, there's probably nothing big to spoil," but I still stayed away. YAY.

I'm so glad I didn't know, too. I knew a fair bit about the Torchwood spoilers (and good for that, or I might have sprained something cursing at Chibnall).
