Just when you thought I was done ... well, I am. However, this scene always tickled me, although I couldn't justify the Doctor behaving this way, so I cut it.

This would have taken place sometime in chapter fourteen, after the fire, with the Doctor, Rose, and the Trabanes in their flat.  The Doctor wants to get back to the TARDIS, Emelia is being difficult, and Connor is at his wits' end with the two of them.  Rose asks, in her own way, "are you gonna make me?"

As I said, it didn't work, but I hope it provides some amusement.  Enjoy.

...

"Your ship is where?" Emelia asked incredulously.

"In Section 4, Habitation D," repeated the Doctor, enunciating each word carefully as if speaking to someone hard of hearing. "In the closet."

"Em, for God's sake, don't argue with him any more," said Connor from the couch, putting his hands over his face. "I can't take it. I just can't take it."

Rose sympathized with him. "You said the fire was out," she put in. "Surely it's safe for us to go back now."

"The fire is out, yes," said Emelia, "but the structure is not sound. Part of the roof collapsed over Habitation B. It's not safe."

The Doctor stood up from where he had been sitting on the couch, obviously having reached a decision. "Emelia," he pronounced with finality, "I am going to go in and get my TARDIS. I do not need your permission. You can jump up and down or stand on your head for all I care."

She pursed her lips in irritation. "Well, go on, then," she said crossly.

"Thank you," said the Doctor sarcastically, and Rose stood to follow him. "I don't suppose you'd agree to stay here and just let me nip out for a few minutes?" he asked hopefully. She folded her arms across her chest. "I'll be right back, I promise," he said. "Would you stay?"

"No," she said, with a trace of defiance. "What are you going to do, jump up and down? Stand on your head?"

As it turned out, what he could do was push her into the Trabanes' bathroom and jam the lock with the sonic screwdriver. She pounded on the door and howled at him.

"Stop it," he told her through the door. "I'll be back in a few minutes. I will not have you doing something foolish. I've had a somewhat trying day."

With that, she heard him walk away, and she sat on the toilet and thought of a dozen ways she could get back at him for this. None of them seemed quite severe enough. A soft tap-tap on the door interrupted her plotting. "Yes?" she asked.

"Are you all right?" asked Emelia.

She was mad enough to spit nails, but she was perfectly fine beyond that. "Yeah. Hope no one needs the loo."

"We'll just go next door if we do," came the rather pragmatic response.

"I hate sponge baths," Rose said, feeling petty, glaring at the offending shower stall as if it, rather than the Doctor, had trapped her in the bathroom.

"Don't take one, then." She could almost hear the shrug that accompanied the statement.

Rose made a terrible face at the door and put her head in her hands. "You're both insufferable," she muttered. "Two peas in a pod."

She heard Emelia's footsteps as she also walked away, and she whiled away the rest of the time by poking around in the cabinets and inspecting all of the Trabanes' personal care items. After what seemed like hours, she heard more footsteps and then the familiar hum of the sonic screwdriver. The door opened and the Doctor gave her a wary look.

"Bastard," she said, and walked out without looking at him.

I've read this before. How have I read this before?

I love it by the way. You write them fighting very well. :)

I agree. I'm sure I've read this before for some reason.

And I also agree in saying I still love it Kalleah even if I've read it before!

This was cute, but I can see why you cut it -- it *is* hard to buy the Doctor locking Rose into the bathroom for giving him a hard time. (Which doesn't mean it wasn't funny!)

I have to confess that I have yet to read "The Hidden Well." But I like this!

Deleted scenes can be fun!

I laughed out loud when he locked her in the bathroom.

But I'm glad you deleted the scene in the end. Because Rose would have been (rightfully) furious for a very, very long time, which would have jarred the story.

Yep, definitely read this before. You must have posted this a few months ago, methinks. I remember it was posted as a deleted scene then.
