A cure for writer's block

I haven't had a real case of writer's block lately (writer's procrastination or writer's angst, maybe) but I am filing a way a cure for when I do need it.  I went and had an hour-long deep tissue massage with aromatherapy today.

For a while, I just let my mind wander aimlessly and tried to be as physically present as I could (drawing a lot from my yoga practice) but then, ha, my mind wandered back to my current opus.  I've got the majority of the next two chapters for The Calm Before the Storm written in my head and am just getting the words down now.  And, my skin is glowing, and my back feels fantastic.  It's brainstorming with benefits.

Agree totally. There is something about massage that engages the emotions and unconscious mind very deeply. For me the best of all, when I can spare £40.00 just for a treat, is an Elemis facial with a lovely therapist at my local beauty clinic. You don't realise how tense you are until you do something like that.

This was, even better, from a gift certificate I received for Christmas, so there's that sense of indulgence without actually laying out any cash. Always appropriate.

I'm leery of facials just because I have very sensitive skin and broke out in a manner that would be the envy (or not) of any pimply 15 year old when I did indulge, so I think that has to stay off my plate for the time being. Now, the hour foot massage? Might have to talk seriously about that.

And then you could write an hour-long-foot-massage bit for the Doctor and Rose! Yes!

(reminding myself sternly that I do not actually write fic and that might not be the best start...)

I'm working on the next chapter off and on today, and it's more dialogue than I'm used to. No foot massage, though. Possibly sex, but I'm not done talking yet. :)
