It's crack!science, but I've done a bit of research so at least I have some real terminology thrown in. I did read up on terraforming theories (here (http://www.geocities.com/marsterraforming/terraforming.html) is one interesting site), and several involve the use of greenhouse gases in some form. I did some googling on some gases that might be used and found some patents that gave me ideas, like this one (http://www.freepatentsonline.com/7045668.html), which I used heavily for the Doctor and Connor's conversations about the atmospheric converters.
I'm glad it seems at least plausible on the surface level -- it's not really science, but I hope it sounds enough like it to sustain willing suspension of disbelief, which is what I'm really going for.
