He's a very loving hypocrite. Isn't this exactly what he seems to do with most everyone except Rose?
I got really excited when I read that and even said a quiet "YES!!" to myself because he really, really does. It's a character flaw that I find quite endearing because while I don't think the Doctor has a "love is blind mentality" towards Rose (he generally seems really aware of her faults), he DOES seem willing to forgive her for pretty much anything. Which is... not something he extends to most other people, that's for sure.
