The divergence in the two Pete's paths must have happened before 1987 (since Rose was never born in Pete's World), but, even so, it's very hard to imagine the man we met in 1987 turning into Pete Tyler, multi-millionaire and leader of men, in just twenty years, unless an awful lot of things went right.
Then again -- perhaps all Vitex needed was the right spokesman. :) Maybe someday I'll write a drabble or something about what became of Vitex in the original world, without Pete to promote it.
