Plot holes the size of small continents, but boy was that fun.

I demand an explanation for why I haven't been able to find gifs of these two moments:

The Doctor kissing Rory (for Rory's precious squick face afterward)

Hey, I sent you a link to the first one already! Here's a link to the second one.

My biggest complaints about this episode were Tricey's death and the unexpected rapeyness. Other than that, there were dinosaurs on a spaceship, which was all I really wanted.

Tricey's death mirrors the death of the horse in Crime and Punishment, and it has essentially the same purpose. Tricey is essentially innocent, being an animal, and inherently sympathetic. We, as the audience, are supposed to feel more regret for its death than that of Solomon, the human, who is after all not a very nice man. It makes the Doctor seem like less of a monster for condoning Solomon's death (even though he gave the man plenty of chances).

Oh, no, I get the script- and character-based reasons why Tricey had to die; I just don't enjoy watching animal cruelty onscreen, even to a fictional, CGI animal.

I do tend to think Chris Chibnall isn't big on Crime and Punishment, although the point is valid.

ETA: Having the Doctor lock Solomon away and not have to deal with further unpleasantnesses is very Doctorish.

Hi! I don't suppose you could share the link to Rory facepalming? I obviously don't follow the right people on Tumblr. *snort*

You want the upper right corner in this set of GIFs.

People have referred to the rapeyness elsewhere. I assume you refer to Solomon w.r.t. Nefertiti?

Otherwise I missed something I really shouldn't have.

I assume you meant to reply to me? If so, yes, I meant Solomon's comment to Nefertiti.

That was creepy. Yes, it established Solomon as a Very Bad Man but we knew that already. My original understanding of way he wanted Nefertiti was to sell her as a curiosity (bad enough!) so the rape undertones were unnecessary.
