They definitely share some common personality traits, at least with regards to their intellectual curiosity and general geekiness. In practice -- I'd say Connor's more like Rose, in that he tends to run interference in interpersonal areas for his volatile and much less tactful partner. He's also got the family responsibilities that he takes very, very seriously, and he's quite happy to be domesticated.
