the issues that would come of a telepathic child being raised by non-telepaths

I've been reading a lot about autism spectrum disorders, feral children, and sensory integration disorder as I've researched this story, and yes, that's what I'm trying to convey. Jonah's small face and his world view were the first ideas that came to me for this story; the terraforming and the other characters came in around him.

There's a lot of debate around this idea, but there are some theories that at least some autism spectrum disorders are caused by too much empathy or sensory input rather than the lack of ability to process them. I don't know which view is valid (although my guess is that both are, for certain individuals) but it's been very interesting reading.
