The Pete question drives me BATTY. I don't mind ambiguity with my science fiction but some degree of reality to hang with it would be nice. That scene is a perfect example of Deus ex machina. RTD was sloppy. Grr.

So, with all the time it's rattled around in my brain, I'd like to think I have some plausible theories! :)
