Wow. I remember a lot of the children's and young adult books from my home town library! And I think "My Brother Sam Is Dead" was assigned reading in some class in junior high. (I wasn't in that class, but a friend of mine was.) Ours was an unusually liberal town and school system, especially for Ohio, but still. I had no idea that some of these were controversial!
