If you could have me write a fic specifically for you, what would it be like? Fandom (duh), characters/pairing, genre, plot elements, kinks... what's your ideal fic from me?

I promise nothing but I'll think about it. I need to get writing again.
kalleah: (sparkle)
I should not really be tempted to acquire a Doctor Who cell phone charm, but ZOMG TINY TARDIS.

For those of you mourning Ten and in angst following The End of Time, I give you a splendid, laugh-out-loud series of macros from [livejournal.com profile] orange_crushed featuring our favorite world dominator.  Spoilers for the episode, of course.
kalleah: (dt red tint sideways)
I've now seen The End of Time Part 2 twice, once with a gaggle of ladies on chat with my heart in my throat worrying about how it would all work out and once with the full knowledge of how everything would unfold.  For me, the second viewing was by far the better of the two.

I think it's fair to say, without giving anything away above a cut, that the reactions to this final episode have been diverse and emotional.  I've been thinking about what I take away from the end of Ten, and the end of RTD as showrunner.

Big picture commentary, obviously with spoilers )

io9 is full of spoilers and speculation in general, and the comments on this are wanktastic, but this was too funny not to share.

More Ten II/Rose in The Journey After series, set following following Needful Things. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] platypus for beta. Spoilers for Journey's End, of course, but no other warnings.

In the wee hours of the night, the Doctor became fuzzily aware that Rose had untangled herself from him. )

There is a bit of an online hubbub about Argleton, a Lancashire town marked on Google Maps that doesn't exist.

Mystery of Argleton, the Google town that only exists online
Destination: Argleton! Visiting an imaginary place

This needs to be a Doctor Who story.  You people are brilliant.  Write something.  DO EEEEEEET.  Write it in the comments, or write something long, whatever suits.  I may take a hand to it myself, but I thought it would be fun to have a bunch of us tackle this.

io9 has some excellent writing advice posted today:

Your space-warping, mind-bending science fiction/fantasy novel isn't just action set pieces and breathtaking ideas — it's got character and atmosphere. And when you're developing those things, it's tempting to reach for that great tool, the Topic Sentence. But beware.

Summarized, it says: Show, don't tell.  I think I'm going to bookmark this and reread it before posting anything, just as a reminder of something I ought to know already.

More Ten II/Rose in The Journey After series. This immediately follows The Private Universe.  No relation to the Stephen King novel of the same title.  More adult content.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] nonelvis and [livejournal.com profile] platypus for beta work on this and to several others for putting up with my questions about eye exams.

Needful Things )
Next: Listen

This is fourth in a series featuring Ten II and Rose, following immediately after Tenses and Pronouns. Obviously, there are spoilers for Journey's End.  Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] nonelvis and [livejournal.com profile] platypus for beta work.  Adult content in the story, although not in this part.

As Rose drove, the Doctor squinted up through the sunroof of Pete's car at a pair of zeppelins where they drifted in the sky. )

This is fourth in a series featuring Ten II and Rose, following immediately after Tenses and Pronouns. Obviously, there are spoilers for Journey's End. There is also adult content.

Thanks as usual to [livejournal.com profile] nonelvis and [livejournal.com profile] platypus, who provided their usual excellent beta input including much gnashing of teeth over the appropriate title. In the end, the title is borrowed from a Crowded House song, which does not feature at all in the story.

Despite his assurance to Rose that he was the same man, he felt like a stranger to himself in a way that he never had before. )
kalleah: (dw tardis)
This idea has been rattling around in my head since The Next Doctor. It's a bit of a departure from what I've written before. No warnings, minimal spoilers.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] nonelvis, [livejournal.com profile] np_complete, and [livejournal.com profile] platypus for their beta work and general philosophical thoughts.

Oh, you Time Lords, you think you have everything well under your thumb, but even you're so terribly arrogant that you think you control the multiverse or that there can be finite rules in infinite space. )
kalleah: (dw tardis)
I need a quick consensus.  When using the word in context, as in "the TARDIS was in the ..." is the word vortex capitalized or not?  I've seen it done both ways.
kalleah: (jack whatever)
My husband and I just finished Children of Earth, and good gravy, that was something altogether unexpected. Everyone's been so delightful about not spoiling me, so I'll be equally respectful and keep everything behind a cut.

Discussion and spoilers )

It was a brilliant, thought-provoking, dramatic, and horrifying series.  Just, wow.

ETA: Since I skipped over all of the reaction posts, I'd love to have a few links to your thoughts as well.  :)
